I would like to use the mailbox to channel my inner child and display an imaginitive way by which mail travels. Using bright colored paints, I could create an underwater world or show the face of plantes that our mail passes by. For the flag, I could make a shooting star or mermaid. The inside of the mailbox could also be decorated to match the painted outside theme. I could put a layer of sand for the underwater theme on the bottom of the inside, or clay for the outerspace theme.
I wish you had included some pictures of the drawings from your sketchbook.
ReplyDeleteI like the conceptual idea thinking about how mail travels. I think this is a neat idea and i really like the idea of having sand in the mailbox, i also think a mailbox is a good choice for a project about childhood.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a really cool idea that you could do a lot with, Paige. I'm excited to see what images you decide on. It's really creative, and really seems to be ABOUT the mailbox.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of painting a underwater world on the mailbox! How about paint the inside of the mailbox, plant plants in it, and fill that with water? Drop some Gold Fish into it at the end! Haha
ReplyDeleteI like this idea too.
DeleteBob that is genius. I want pet goldfish.
Deletei think your idea of painting the mailbox is great - I was hoping someone would do that! From what I heard you say in class I think it sounds great! I would love to see some sketches! The underwater or outer space scenes both sound really cool. I would love to see really bright colors, maybe a little bit detailed or even kinda cartoony looking rather than ultra realisitic. Whatever you decide to do with the flag - definitely make it really creative, maybe sculpt off of it a little!
ReplyDeleteSo my question is will the mailbox become a sculpture then?
ReplyDeleteur always doing wicked realistic portraits and asking me how to make it more look like you or real life or whatever. My vote is for outer space, it can have no resembelence of anything you know or anything that we've seen before. You could litterally do whatever you want and noone will call you on it...its freakin outer space.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! I really like having the inside be underwater, but my only worry is that it might be a bit dark? It would be cool if you could use some sort of blue light inside. I especially love the mermaid flag idea! I hope you get to do this!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! It's super sweet. I like all of the different mailboxes in your sketches. I think it's a cool interpretation of communication, and a neat point of view!
ReplyDeleteYour sketches are awesome, and I think this has a lot of potential! I agree with Kristen's comment about making the flag and the mailbox as a whole into a sculpture and a painting in a kind of mixed-media 3-D painting. I like the youthfulness of this project and the sense of liberty you'll have when working with either an underwater scene or an out-of-space one!
ReplyDeleteMs. Smith-I think so, because I'm just painting on the structure to cover it and decorating the inside. Thanks everyone, I'll try to use all of your ideas!
ReplyDeletei love this idea. We seldomly use hand-written mails nowadays. And by adding things that child thinks of brings nostalgia even better. I am very looking forward for it
