dialogue with myself

Finding what I wanted to paint took a long time, but I decided to display my two biggest characteristics and how opposite they are. My athleticism and artistic qualities are important to me, and I wanted to show these in my painting. I'm working with oil paint, which is favorite medium because of the slick texture of the paint. Sometimes this painting has been frustrating because I have to wait for it to dry to fix it. I think it will come out nicely when it's finished.

This was more fun than drawing still life objects, although setting up outside everyday was annoying. I liked painting the negative space between the rocks and using bright colors. I wish I had more time to make final touches on the rocks and trees, but I think it came out well overall. I followed my mentor by using light colors, and focusing on one point of the painting.
